I’m a big fan of setting goals. In my opinion (granted, this is the opinion of an admitted control freak), life without goals is just a series of random occurences, some of which happen to be good. If you never set goals, how do you ever achieve anything? How can you work toward something if you haven’t defined it?
One of my favorite bloggers, Maggie Mason, author of Mighty Girl, Mighty Goods, Mighty Junior and Mighty Haus, upped the ante by creating Mighty Life: Things to Do Before I Go. Basically, it’s her Bucket List.
As an obsessive-compulsive list-maker, this idea really appealed to me. I mean, it’s a To Do list of epic proportions; what’s not to like? If you’re an anal-retentive freak, that is?
(Also, I am not above stealing really good ideas. Consequently, if you read her list closely, you’ll find a couple of her Mighty Life items on my list as well.)
So here goes: Kel’s Bucket List: The First 25
(In no particular order)
1. Take the redeye to Paris with my lover.
(Yes, this requires me to have a lover, but something tells me finding one won’t be a problem once I announce I’m footing the bill for two round-trip tickets to France.)
2. Visit an ossuary.
3. Take a trip to Las Vegas wherein I see as many “naked” sights as possible (e.g., the Bunny Ranch, Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity, Crazy Horse, Dita Von Teese, the Pussycat Dolls, the Playboy Club, etc.). Also Star Trek: The Experience.
4. Own at least one horse.
5. Publish a work of fiction.
6. Visit Vostok Station in Antarctica.
7. Visit Costa Rica.
8. Overcome my fear of spiders.
9. Visit Morocco.
10. Visit Sub-Saharan Africa.
11. Visit Northern Ireland.
12. Ride 100 miles on a bicycle in one day.
13. Run a marathon.
14. Design my own perfume at Hove Parfumeur in New Orleans.
15. Own a home in New Orleans.
16. Visit an American Indian reservation.
17. Take part in a political protest.
18. Visit all the places my father went during the Vietnam War.
19. Perform a dance one more time.

So tell me – what’s on YOUR Bucket List?
Your dreaming
Kel

So what happens if you don’t achieve them?
(That’s why I don’t set goals.)
Then you have to drink, of course!
(Didn’t you know life is just one big drinking game?)
okay kel– i can help with the work of fiction — I’ve got PLENTY of stories for a Lifetime movie even!!!! no one has to know they’re true!!!!
I need to write up a bucket list, but I think I’d need TWO places to post it. One for the clean, and one for the dirty! And actually one for the things I’ve already done!
